Tue Jun 03 01:40:00 UTC 2025: **Texas Longhorns Advance to WCWS Championship Series, Shut Out Tennessee**

**Oklahoma City, OK – June 2, 2025** – The Texas Longhorns are heading to the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) championship series for the third time in the last four years after defeating the Tennessee Lady Vols 2-0 in a decisive semifinal matchup. The Longhorns, now one of only two undefeated teams in the tournament, showcased a dominant performance both at the plate and in the circle, ending Tennessee’s season.

Katie Stewart’s solo home run in the fourth inning broke a scoreless tie and proved to be the pivotal moment of the game. The Longhorns extended their lead in the sixth after a wild throw allowed Joley Mitchell to score.

Pitchers Mac Morgan and Teagan Kavan combined for a stellar shutout performance, allowing only three hits and two walks while striking out seven. Karlyn Pickens pitched well for Tennessee, but ultimately took the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out nine.

The Longhorns now await the winner of the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners and No. 12 Texas Tech game. In their previous two championship series appearances, Texas fell to Oklahoma, and the Longhorns will look to break that streak this year.

The Lady Vols conclude their season with a 47-17 record and their second WCWS appearance in three years.
