Mon Jun 02 01:00:00 UTC 2025: **Oklahoma Softball Faces Elimination Game After Loss to Texas**
**OKLAHOMA CITY** – The Oklahoma Sooners, aiming for a fifth consecutive national championship, will face No. 16 seed Oregon in an elimination game Sunday at Devon Park in Oklahoma City after falling to archrival Texas 4-2 on Saturday. The loss was the Sooners’ first against the Longhorns in the Women’s College World Series.
The No. 2 seeded Sooners, the highest-ranked team remaining in the tournament, will look to avoid an early exit against an Oregon team that survived a 10-inning battle against Ole Miss on Friday. The Ducks previously lost their WCWS opener to UCLA.
The game will feature a reunion between Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso and Oregon coach Melyssa Lombardi, who played for and served as an assistant under Gasso for 21 years. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
**Update:** Oklahoma defeated Oregon 3-1. Sanders hit a home run in the third inning. Oklahoma will now face UCLA for another elimination game.
