Sun Jun 01 22:50:00 UTC 2025: **Longhorns Baseball Faces Elimination After Shock Loss in Austin Regional**

**AUSTIN, Texas** – Despite storm damage at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, the NCAA Baseball Tournament’s Austin Regional is underway, but the No. 2 seed Texas Longhorns (43-13) are teetering on the brink of elimination after a stunning 9-7 loss to UTSA on Saturday.

After a comfortable 6-1 lead, the Longhorns crumbled late in the game, putting them in a must-win situation. They now face Kansas State in an elimination game on Sunday. To advance to the Super Regional, Texas must win three games in two days.

The Longhorns opened the regional with a decisive 7-1 victory over Houston Christian, but the stumble against UTSA follows a rocky month of May, including a sweep by Arkansas and a quarterfinal exit from the SEC Tournament.

Kansas State defeated Houston Christian 7-4 to advance to the next round.

The winner of the Austin Regional will face the winner of the Los Angeles Regional, which includes No. 15 UCLA, UC Irvine, Arizona State, and Fresno State.

Sunday’s elimination game between Texas and Kansas State will be broadcast on ESPN. Remaining games in the Austin Regional will be available on ESPN, SEC Network, and ESPN+.

The College World Series is set to begin on June 13, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. The championship series will be held June 21-23.
