Mon Jun 02 14:21:23 UTC 2025: **Hyderabad Man Loses Over ₹10 Lakh in Elaborate Online Scam**
**Hyderabad, India – June 2, 2025:** A 26-year-old man from Hyderabad has fallen victim to a sophisticated online scam, losing over ₹10 lakh after being lured by promises of easy money and quick returns. The fraud, conducted through WhatsApp and Telegram, involved fake real estate promotions.
According to the Hyderabad Cyber Crimes Police, the victim received a WhatsApp message offering a part-time job with a monthly pay of ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 for just 2-3 hours of work per day. He was then added to a Telegram group and directed to register on a fraudulent website that mimicked a legitimate firm.
Once registered, the victim was assigned tasks to promote fictional real estate plots. A ₹10,000 login bonus appeared on the app interface, boosting his confidence. After completing 20 tasks, he was permitted to withdraw ₹500, while the rest was held back as “investment capital.”
The app displayed rising balances, at one point showing ₹1.72 lakh. However, when instructed to invest the entire amount for even greater profits, the victim grew suspicious. Upon closer inspection, he realized the scheme was entirely fraudulent. In total, he was defrauded of ₹10,19,781.
Authorities are investigating the incident and urging the public to exercise caution when encountering similar online offers. This incident serves as a reminder of the growing threat of cybercrime and the importance of verifying the legitimacy of online investment opportunities.
