**Bank Closures Expected Across India This Week for Bakrid**

**New Delhi:** Several banks across India will be closed for two days this week, June 6th and 7th, in observance of Id-ul-Ad’ha (Bakrid) and Bakri ID (Id-Uz-Zuha), according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar. Banks nationwide will also be closed on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, as usual.

The holiday schedule varies regionally. Banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will be closed on Friday, June 6th, for Id-ul-Ad’ha (Bakrid), a significant Islamic festival commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son.

On Saturday, June 7th, banks will remain closed across the country with the exception of Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram. These cities will have banks open on Saturday, as it is the first Saturday of the month, a day banks are normally open.

Bakrid, also known as Id ul-Zuha, commonly referred to as the ‘goat festival’, is a day to celebrate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son.

The RBI dictates that banks are typically closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, along with all Sundays.

Despite the closures, online banking services will remain operational throughout the holiday period, allowing customers to conduct essential financial transactions. Services like NEFT/RTGS transfers, chequebook requests, and card management will still be accessible. Customers can also access digital channels for account maintenance, setting up standing instructions, and locker applications.

While physical bank branches will be inaccessible in designated regions, customers can rely on online banking for seamless financial management during the holiday.
