Sun Jun 01 17:00:00 UTC 2025: **Headline: Preity Zinta: From Bollywood Star to Unwavering Force, Actress Returns to the Big Screen**
Mumbai – Preity Zinta, the dimpled darling of Bollywood, is set to make a comeback after a seven-year hiatus with Rajkumar Santoshi’s “Lahore 1947.” But Zinta’s story is more than just box office numbers; it’s a tale of courage, independence, and unwavering principles that have defined her career.
Zinta, who rose to fame in the late 1990s with hits like “Dil Se…” and “Soldier,” has consistently defied expectations. At the peak of her career she stood strong against the dark side of Bollywood.
During the release of her film “Chori Chori Chupke Chupke,” when producer Bharat Shah was arrested for alleged ties to underworld don Chhota Shakeel, Zinta bravely testified against extortion attempts, refusing to pay ₹50 lakh demanded by Shakeel. Despite safety concerns, she declined armed security.
Her principled stance extends beyond professional boundaries. In 2011, filmmaker Shandar Amrohi, son of the legendary Kamal Amrohi, offered Zinta his ₹600 crore ancestral property, bypassing his own children. Zinta, known to share a close bond with Shandar Amrohi refused the inheritance, stating, “I am not in such a bad position that someone else’s property is required.” After Shandar Amrohi’s death, Preity filed a case against his family over ₹2 crore loan she gave to him for his medical treatment.
Despite stepping away from leading roles after 2007, Zinta maintained a presence in the industry and even briefly ventured into production with “Ishkq in Paris.”
Now, at 50, Zinta is poised for a significant return alongside Sunny Deol in “Lahore 1947,” originally slated for January 2025, but now scheduled for release in June 2025. The film, also starring Aamir Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Ali Fazal and Shabana Azmi. It marks not just a comeback for the actress, but a reminder of her resilience and enduring star power.
