**LANCASTER, Pennsylvania** – Swedish golfer Linn Grant catapulted herself into contention at the US Women’s Open on Friday with a stunning late-round surge, finishing with a flurry of birdies to climb into a tie for sixth place.

Grant carded a remarkable seven birdies during her round, including three in the final five holes. A long, impressive putt contributed to her momentum, drawing praise from Viaplay expert Caroline Hedwall. “Really lovely. Fun to watch. There are many birdies on that scorecard,” Hedwall commented.

The highlight of Grant’s round came on the 18th hole, where a pinpoint accurate tee shot on the par-3 left her inches from the pin. “What a shot! She’s put herself in a great position heading into the weekend,” Hedwall exclaimed.

Grant’s impressive three-under-par round propelled her to a total of four-under-par for the tournament, placing her in a tie for sixth with fellow Swede Maja Stark, who was also performing strongly through 12 holes of her round.

However, the lead is held by Japan’s Mao Saigo, who sits atop the leaderboard at eight-under-par.

Grant’s strong finish sets the stage for an exciting weekend at the US Women’s Open, as she looks to chase down Saigo and contend for her first major championship.
