**Hyderabad, India – May 28, 2025** – The Telangana State government has officially approved the establishment of a new Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) campus in Mahabubnagar. The announcement, made Wednesday evening, signals an expansion of accessible technical education within the state.
The decision, formalized in an order issued by Secretary Yogita Rana, follows proposals from the Telangana Council of Higher Education and the Commissioner of Technical Education (CTE), highlighting the need for such a campus in the region.
The RGUKT Mahabubnagar campus is slated to open its doors for the 2025-26 academic year, initially offering three specialized Computer Science and Engineering courses: Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), and Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science). Details regarding the budget and staffing needs are expected to be released separately.
The Vice Chancellor of RGUKT Basar and the CTE have been directed to take the necessary steps to implement the order.
In related news, RGUKT Basar has announced admissions for its six-year integrated courses. The Basar campus will offer 1,500 seats, while the new Mahabubnagar campus will have an initial intake of 180 seats. Applications for both campuses will be accepted from May 31st to June 21st.
