**Theyyam Museum to Preserve Kerala’s Ritualistic Art, Breaking Ground in Kannur**

**Kannur, Kerala – May 30, 2025** – A dedicated museum preserving the ritualistic art form of Theyyam is set to be established in Chanthappura, Kadannapally-Panapuzha grampanchayat, announced Minister for Registration, Museum and Archaeology Ramachandran Kadannappally. The inauguration of the Theyyam museum project took place today.

The museum aims to showcase Theyyam as a purely ritualistic art form, with the design and narrative finalized after extensive consultation with Theyyam practitioners to ensure authenticity and cultural integrity.

The project, originally conceived during the first LDF government, faced delays despite land allocation. However, it has been revived with a new administrative sanction of ₹7.96 crore. Construction has been entrusted to the Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society, with ₹1 crore already disbursed as a mobilisation advance.

“This museum is crucial for preserving Theyyam in its truest form,” Minister Kadannappally emphasized during the inauguration, urging for its timely completion.

M. Vijin, MLA, presided over the function, with Rajmohan Unnithan, MP, and former MLA T.V. Rajesh attending as chief guests. P.S. Manjula Devi, Director of the Museum and Zoo department, presented a detailed project overview.
