Fri May 30 10:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Philadelphia Area Braces for Soggy Week After Beautiful Memorial Day, Drought Officially Over

**Philadelphia, PA – May 27, 2025** – After enjoying a pleasant Memorial Day and a dry start to the week, the Philadelphia region is preparing for a stretch of wet weather, according to CBS Philadelphia. Rain is expected to move into the area overnight, ushering in several days of unsettled conditions.

Wednesday is forecasted to be the wettest day, with widespread rain expected due to a pair of low-pressure systems affecting the region. Temperatures will also drop significantly, with highs struggling to reach the 60s in many areas, particularly north and west of the city. A breezy wind will make the cooler temperatures feel even more pronounced.

Thursday’s forecast remains uncertain. While some models predict the rain will clear out early, others indicate showers could linger into the afternoon. Regardless, a gradual drying trend is expected, with some sunshine possible by late afternoon and temperatures climbing back into the 70s. Another disturbance may bring more showers, especially south of the city, into Friday.

The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue into Friday and Saturday, with scattered showers possible, particularly in the afternoons. Humidity will also increase, and a chance of thunderstorms cannot be ruled out.

However, residents can look forward to brighter days ahead. Skies are expected to clear out late Saturday, leading to a drier evening and paving the way for warmer and drier conditions on Sunday into early next week. Highs are predicted to reach the mid-80s, offering a chance to salvage outdoor plans.

**Drought Relief:** The recent rainfall has provided significant relief to the region’s drought situation. For the first time in over eight months, the Philadelphia area is no longer under any drought classification. With an additional inch or so of rain anticipated this week, further improvements are expected to be reflected in Thursday’s updated drought monitor.
