**Raducanu Reflects on Clay Court Season After French Open Loss to Swiatek**
PARIS, France – Emma Raducanu, 22, is looking forward to the grass court season after a second-round defeat at the French Open to world No. 1 Iga Swiatek. The 6-1, 6-2 loss on Court Philippe-Chatrier, Raducanu’s first appearance on the showpiece court, highlighted the gap between herself and the top players on clay.
Raducanu admitted feeling “exposed” against the four-time Roland Garros champion, who extended her undefeated streak at the tournament to 23 matches. Swiatek dominated the match, replicating her dominant form from their previous encounter at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Despite the loss, Raducanu remains positive about her clay court season, highlighting the matches she won and the progress she made adjusting to the surface. This was her first full clay court season since 2022.
While acknowledging areas for improvement, Raducanu emphasized her recent momentum since the Miami Open and is eager to transition to the grass court season, especially with the familiar comforts and home support of Wimbledon on the horizon. She expressed feeling comfortable playing at home, is looking forward to the environement, and having the home support.
Swiatek will advance to the third round to face the winner of Sara Bejlek and Jaqueline Cristian.
