**Manhattanhenge Returns: Catch the Sunset Spectacle This Week!**
NEW YORK — Prepare for a dazzling display of light as Manhattanhenge graces the city this week! This biannual phenomenon, where the setting sun aligns perfectly with Manhattan’s street grid, is set to occur on Wednesday, May 28th, and Thursday, May 29th, offering stunning photo opportunities.
According to the American Museum of Natural History, Manhattanhenge creates a unique “radiant glow of light” across the city’s brick and steel canyons as the sun illuminates both sides of every cross street.
Unfortunately, Chief Meteorologist Lee Goldberg reports that clouds and rain are expected to obscure Wednesday’s “Half Sun” view. However, those hoping to catch a glimpse of the “Full Sun” event on Thursday, May 29th, at 8:12 PM ET, may be in luck, as there’s a chance for late breaks in the cloud cover.
For those planning to capture the perfect shot, AccuWeather recommends prime viewing locations along 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, and 79th Streets. Other popular spots include the Tudor City Overpass in Manhattan and Hunter’s Point South Park in Long Island City, Queens.
Mark your calendars for the next Manhattanhenge events in July: Half Sun on Saturday, July 12th, at 8:22 PM ET and Full Sun on Friday, July 11th, at 8:20 PM ET.
