**IndiGo to Build New MRO Facility at Bengaluru Airport, Further Solidifying Aviation Hub Status**

**Bengaluru, May 30, 2025** – IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to establish a new Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru. BIAL will allocate approximately 31 acres of land for the project.

The state-of-the-art facility will be capable of handling both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, offering a significant advantage to IndiGo, which currently operates a fleet of over 400 aircraft. The new MRO aims to improve aircraft availability, reduce costs, and accelerate turnaround times, ultimately benefiting both the airline and its customers.

“Developing broad IndiGo MRO capabilities marks a significant and very strategic step for IndiGo,” said Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo. “Partnering with BIAL underlines our shared commitment to drive long-term growth of the aviation ecosystem in Bengaluru and cement its status as, amongst the best and world-class international hubs in India.”

Hari Marar, MD and CEO of BIAL, echoed this sentiment, stating, “We are delighted that India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has chosen KIA to set up its latest MRO facility and enhance its operations… This is a strong validation of the growth potential of the airport, and the city of Bengaluru as a premier aviation hub.”

With existing MRO facilities in Delhi and Bengaluru, this new establishment reinforces IndiGo’s commitment to self-reliance in aircraft maintenance and strengthens Bengaluru’s position as a key aviation center in India.
