Wed May 28 17:51:49 UTC 2025: ## UPSC Launches New Online Application Portal, Emphasizing Aadhaar Use
**New Delhi, May 28, 2025** – The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the launch of a new “Online Application Portal” aimed at streamlining the application process for aspiring civil servants. The portal, unveiled on Wednesday, is designed to save applicants’ time and create a unified record system for all UPSC examinations.
In a statement released today, the UPSC strongly recommended the use of Aadhaar cards as the primary ID document for the Universal Application. The commission believes Aadhaar will facilitate “easy, effortless, and seamless verification and authentication” of applicant identities and other pertinent details, ultimately serving as a permanent, centralized record.
The new portal is divided into four key sections: account creation, universal registration, a common application form, and specific examination applications. The first three sections are standardized across all examinations and can be completed by candidates at any time.
“This arrangement will facilitate candidates to fill up the first three parts anytime and be ready for applying to any UPSC examination whenever notified with updates as may be required, thereby saving time and avoiding last-minute rush,” the UPSC stated.
All applicants are now required to use the new portal, accessible at https://upsconline.nic.in. The previous one-time registration system has been discontinued. The UPSC encourages all prospective candidates to familiarize themselves with the new portal and its features.
