**Karnataka CM Vows to Restore Harmony Amid Rising Tensions in Dakshina Kannada**

**Bengaluru, May 29, 2025** – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has pledged to restore communal harmony in Dakshina Kannada district, which is currently grappling with heightened tensions following a series of recent murders, including the death of a youth in Bantwal on May 27. Prohibitory orders are in effect in the town until May 30.

Following a meeting with Congress MLC B. K. Hariprasad to discuss the situation, Siddaramaiah emphasized the urgent need to bridge the divide between Hindu and Muslim communities. “There should be communal harmony in that region. There should not be any hatred among Hindus and Muslims. We have to bring harmony there,” he told reporters.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the law will be applied impartially to anyone involved in the violence, regardless of their influence. “We will take action as per law against anyone involved in it irrespective of how influential that person is. No one is above the law,” he stated. He is also considering the formation of an anti-communal task force to address the root causes of the ongoing conflict.

The recent unrest follows the murder of a Hindutva activist, Suhas Shetty, on May 1, further exacerbating the already fragile situation. Police have apprehended three suspects, including Deepak and Sumith, in connection with the murder of Abdul Rehman in Bantwal.

In addition to addressing the communal tensions, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a meeting scheduled for May 30 to discuss the current rain situation in Karnataka with district officials.
