**HBO Announces Young Stars to Lead New “Harry Potter” Series**

**LOS ANGELES, CA – October 26, 2025** – The magic is coming! HBO has unveiled the young actors who will bring Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley to life in its highly anticipated TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved book series. Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout have been cast in the iconic roles, selected from over 30,000 children who auditioned in an open casting call last year.

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod released a joint statement expressing their excitement: “The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.”

McLaughlin, a Scottish actor with upcoming roles in Sky’s “Grow” and the BBC’s “Gifted,” will portray Harry Potter. Stanton, who previously starred as Matilda in “Matilda: The Musical” in London’s West End, will play Hermione Granger. Stout will complete the golden trio as Ron Weasley.

The young cast joins a stellar ensemble of established actors: John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. Further casting announcements are expected soon.

J.K. Rowling will serve as an executive producer on the series, which HBO has promised will be a faithful adaptation of her books. The multi-year series, designed to span at least a decade, will allow for deeper exploration of the plot lines and nuances of the books compared to the films.

Filming is slated to begin in the summer at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK, with the first series potentially premiering as early as 2026 on HBO Max. This new adaptation promises to be a captivating journey back into the wizarding world for a new generation of viewers and dedicated fans alike.
