Initially, the Suramangalam police registered a case and sent the body for postmortem at the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital. The postmortem report revealed significant internal injuries to the back of the head, leading investigators to suspect that Ajithkumar had been beaten to death.
Following an investigation, police detained five of Ajithkumar’s acquaintances for questioning. The inquiry revealed that the incident stemmed from a dispute over a shared acquaintance on Instagram. One of the arrested, Karthick, had reportedly warned Ajithkumar to sever his friendship with a female friend of Karthick’s Instagram acquaintance.
