**Kerala Food Stall “Moffles” Finds Sweet Success with Churros, Expands to Bengaluru**
**Thiruvananthapuram, May 28, 2025** – What started as a plan to serve momos and waffles has turned into a churro sensation for Moffles, a food stall in Kuravankonam, Thiruvananthapuram. Founded in December 2024 by Akshay Krishna and Gowri Krishna, Moffles (a portmanteau of momos and waffles) unexpectedly found its niche in the Spanish fried dessert.
“We had initially planned on waffles, but setting up the electricity proved difficult,” explains Akshay Krishna. “By February, we introduced churros, and they’ve become our primary product.”
Moffles offers a variety of churros, from classic cinnamon to inventive flavors like cheese and chocolate. A standout item is the loaded strawberry churros, featuring churro bites coated in cinnamon sugar, atop a chocolate sponge, strawberries, and a generous dousing of milk chocolate and hazelnut sauces.
Initially, customers were hesitant to try the unfamiliar treat. “For a month, we gave out free samples,” Akshay says. “Those who tried them became our repeat customers.”
Sreenath SJ, a regular customer, notes, “I came for the momos, but I tried the churros because they were new and not sold at many places in the city.”
The success of Moffles is evident in its popularity. The stall is open every night from 6 PM to midnight near the University Institute of Technology, Kuravankonam. Due to its success, Moffles is preparing to open a second branch in Bengaluru this August, bringing its unique churro creations to a wider audience. The stall hopes to recreate its sucess in the southern tech hub.
