Wed May 28 04:40:00 UTC 2025: ## HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ TV Series Casts Its Lead Trio After Massive Audition

**Los Angeles, CA** – HBO has officially announced the young actors who will take on the iconic roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley in their upcoming television series adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved books. Newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will step into the shoes previously filled by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.

The casting announcement follows an extensive search, with over 30,000 young actors auditioning since the open casting call was launched last fall. In a statement released on Instagram, HBO welcomed the trio with a familiar sentiment: “Dear Mr. Potter, Miss Granger, and Mr. Weasley: We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.”

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and Executive Producer/Director Mark Mylod expressed their excitement in a joint statement: “After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.” They also thanked the thousands of children who auditioned, acknowledging the wealth of young talent discovered during the process.

While McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout are relatively new to the industry, they each bring unique experience to their roles. McLaughlin will appear in the upcoming Sky comedy “Grow,” while Stanton previously starred as Matilda in “Matilda: The Musical” on the West End. For Stout, “Harry Potter” will mark his first major acting role.

The series will also feature a stellar supporting cast, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.

J.K. Rowling will serve as an executive producer on the show, which HBO has promised will be a faithful adaptation of her bestselling book series. The original “Harry Potter” film franchise launched its young stars to international fame, and this new HBO series has the potential to do the same for its fresh cast.
