**Teen Kayaker Killed in Hit-and-Run Jet Ski Incident on Grapevine Lake**

**Grapevine, TX –** Ava Moore, 18, tragically lost her life on Memorial Day Weekend after being struck by a jet ski on Grapevine Lake. According to the Grapevine Police Department, the incident occurred on Sunday, May 25th, while Moore was kayaking.

Authorities state that the jet ski was occupied by two females. One female remained at the scene to speak with first responders, while the alleged operator fled with an adult male in a vehicle. As they left the scene, the pair were involved in a hit-and-run collision before abandoning their car at the Cobblestone apartments on Ruth Wall and Turner Road, as reported by WFAA.

Witnesses pulled Moore from the water and performed CPR. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

Texas Game Wardens are leading the investigation into the water fatality, while the Grapevine Police Department is handling the hit-and-run. They have released a photo of the female suspected of operating the jet ski and are urging anyone with information to contact them at cidmail@grapevinetexas.gov.

Moore, a recent graduate of Timber Creek High School, was remembered as an outstanding student and athlete. She had just completed her first year at the Air Force Preparatory School in Colorado Springs. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with funeral expenses and has already raised over $11,500 of its $20,000 goal.

“We are grieving the loss of our daughter at this time. Our prayers are also with the young ladies involved along with their families,” the Moore family said in a statement to WFAA.

Texas Game Wardens have stated that they are committed to keeping public waters safe. The investigation is ongoing.
