**THANJAVUR, May 28, 2025** – A residence near Sengipatti, in the Thanjavur district, was targeted by burglars on Tuesday night, resulting in the theft of gold jewelry and cash.
According to Sengipatti police, the incident occurred in the Kizha Thiruvizhapatti hamlet. Thieves reportedly forced entry through the front door of the house while the occupants, including 25-year-old Sam Jabaseelan, were asleep.
The burglars made off with 26 grams of gold jewellery and ₹35000 in cash. Mr. Jabaseelan discovered the theft Wednesday morning and immediately filed a complaint with the Sengipatti police.
Police have launched an investigation into the burglary. A sniffer dog and fingerprint experts were dispatched to the scene to gather evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
