Tue May 27 12:20:00 UTC 2025: ## U.S. Women’s Open Returns to Erin Hills, Featuring World’s Top Golfers
**TOWN OF ERIN, [Date]** – The U.S. Women’s Open is set to begin at Erin Hills on Monday, May 26, with practice rounds kicking off the week-long tournament. A field of 156 golfers, including 90 exempt players, will compete for the coveted title.
Among the field are eight former U.S. Women’s Open champions. Defending champion Yuka Saso (2021, 2024), along with In Gee Chun (2015), Sung Hyun Park (2017), Ariya Jutanugarn (2018), Jeongeun Lee6 (2019), A Lim Kim (2020), Minjee Lee (2022) and Allisen Corpuz (2023), are all vying for another championship. Corpuz has a unique connection to Erin Hills, having played in the 2008 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links at the venue as a 10-year-old. “It’s awesome,” Corpuz said on May 26. “I wish I remembered more of it from when I was younger, but I just remember how awesome this property is and how nice the practice facilities are.”
The U.S. Women’s Open is known for its competitive nature, with no repeat champion since Karrie Webb in 2000-01. The tournament will also feature the entire top 20 in the Women’s World Golf Rankings. Nelly Korda, currently ranked No. 1, headlines the group, which includes stars like Jeeno Thitikul, Lydia Ko, and Ruoning Yin.
The championship also showcases rising talent, with 26 amateurs, including several top-ranked players from the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, competing in the event.
The final spot in the field was filled by Dana Fall of Mesa, Arizona, after Chisato Iwaim, who was already exempt from winning the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, won the tournament.
The U.S. Women’s Open is the second major championship on the LPGA Tour schedule.
