**Late-Night Chaos Erupts Near Downtown LA: Vandalism, Arson, and Disruption Plague Intersection**
**Los Angeles, CA -** A chaotic scene unfolded near downtown Los Angeles late Saturday night as dozens of people gathered at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Maple Avenue, engaging in vandalism, arson, and disruptive behavior.
The reason for the gathering, which began around midnight, remains unclear. Video footage from OnScene.TV showed some attendees dressed in party attire, including pink platform heels and cat ears. The situation quickly escalated when a man was seen spitting flammable liquid onto a torch, sending flames skyward, while another climbed a light pole, filming himself with his phone.
The crowd’s attention then turned to a stopped A Line train, which was vandalized with spray paint and hammered on. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) received a call at 12:12 a.m. reporting that five people had entered a train car and were vandalizing the interior, according to Officer Kevin Terzes, an LAPD spokesperson.
Responding officers, numbering in the dozens, formed a skirmish line across the street, armed with riot guns that fire foam rounds. A second call came in at 12:19 a.m. reporting further disruptions on a train at Washington Boulevard and Trinity Street.
While it’s unclear if arrests were made in connection to the train incidents, video evidence shows individuals spray-painting the facades of nearby businesses, including a Panda Express, Waba Grill, dialysis center, and medical clinic. Furthermore, the vandals took selfies next to a spray-painted LAPD cruiser and harassed the police.
Metro spokesperson Jose Ubaldo confirmed that the incident caused approximately 20-minute delays to train service as the crowd blocked both southbound and northbound trains. He also noted that the exteriors and interiors of the trains were vandalized. Thankfully, no passengers or Metro employees were injured.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the LAPD at (800) 222-8477. The investigation is ongoing.
