**CHENNAI, May 27, 2025** – A 24-year-old software engineer, identified as Divesh of Kancheepuram, sustained a head injury on Monday night while attempting to apprehend a thief who snatched his mobile phone at the Paranur Railway Station.
The incident occurred as Divesh was travelling on an EMU train bound for Chengalpattu. According to police sources, the suspect, who had been traveling in the same compartment, snatched the phone from Divesh’s hand as the train was departing from the Paranur station. Divesh attempted to chase the thief by jumping off the moving train but lost his balance and fell onto the platform, resulting in a head injury.
Fellow passengers alerted the police and stopped the train by pulling the emergency chain. The suspect managed to escape.
Divesh was immediately transported to a private hospital where he is currently receiving treatment. Police have confirmed that he is out of danger. An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the suspect.
