**Detroit, MI -** The Detroit Lions have added veteran linebacker Zach Cunningham to their roster, further solidifying their defensive depth ahead of upcoming Organized Team Activities (OTAs). The signing was announced today by the team.

Cunningham, 30, brings eight years of NFL experience to Detroit, most notably from his tenure with the Houston Texans. Drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Vanderbilt University, Cunningham quickly established himself as a tackling force, leading the league in tackles in 2020 with 164. He also boasts three consecutive seasons with over 100 tackles while playing as an off-ball linebacker.

“Zach is a proven veteran who brings experience and a strong tackling presence to our linebacker group,” said a Lions spokesperson. “We’re excited to see him compete and contribute.”

While Cunningham has bounced around the league in recent years, with stints on the Denver Broncos (2024), Philadelphia Eagles, and Tennessee Titans, he started 10 games for the Eagles in 2023, demonstrating his continued ability to contribute at the NFL level.

In Detroit, Cunningham is expected to compete for a reserve role, providing valuable depth behind starting linebackers Jack Campbell and Alex Anzalone. The signing provides the Lions with added security and experience as they prepare for the upcoming season.
