**Nathan Fillion Channels “Golden Girls” for His Green Lantern Role**

**Hollywood, CA -** Nathan Fillion, known for his roles in “Lanterns,” “Superman,” and “Peacemaker,” has revealed that his portrayal of Green Lantern Guy Gardner is heavily influenced by an unexpected source: Sophia Petrillo from the classic sitcom “The Golden Girls.”

In a recent interview on the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast, Fillion explained that he drew inspiration from Estelle Getty’s character, known for her unfiltered and often blunt remarks. “I took my inspiration from the oldest cast member from ‘Golden Girls,’ where she just, whatever she wanted to say, there was no filter,” Fillion stated.

Fillion also suggested that a key event in Guy Gardner’s backstory – being hit by a bus and falling into a coma – may have contributed to his lack of inhibition. “Part of his origin was [that] he was, at one point, hit by a bus and was in a coma. So I just say that’s the thing that flipped the switch. That’s the thing that caused a little bit of brain damage. Now he’s just… off a little bit.”

DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are clearly invested in Fillion’s portrayal of the iconic Green Lantern. He is set to appear not only in the upcoming “Superman” movie starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, but also in Season 2 of Max’s “Peacemaker” alongside John Cena, and the highly anticipated “Lanterns” series.

“Lanterns” boasts an impressive cast, including Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, Garret Dillahunt, Kelly Macdonald, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Nicole Ari Parker, Jason Ritter, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Sherman Augustus, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Chris Coy, and Paul Ben-Victor. Fillion will be reprising his role as Guy Gardner in the series.

The series is directed by James Hawes, Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov, with Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, James Gunn, Peter Safran, King, Hawes, and Ron Schmidt serving as executive producers.

“Lanterns” is based on the DC Comics Green Lantern and is set to be a major event for HBO Max subscribers.
