**Shivamogga, Karnataka – May 27, 2025 -** Heavy rains have lashed several parts of Karnataka, causing landslips and disrupting traffic, particularly in the Hassan district. The Shiradi Ghat stretch of National Highway 75 in Sakleshpur taluk has been severely impacted, leading to restricted vehicle movement.
Hassan MP Shreyas M. Patel visited the affected area on May 26th, accompanied by government officials, to assess the situation. Today, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok is scheduled to visit rain-hit areas, including Anemahal and Doddatappalu, where landslips have occurred.
In response to the adverse weather, the Chikkamagaluru district administration has declared a holiday for all anganwadis until Wednesday, May 28th, in taluks experiencing heavy rainfall. Tourists and the public are advised to avoid trekking and remain a safe distance from rivers in the district.
The Dakshina Kannada district administration has also taken precautionary measures, declaring a holiday for pre-university colleges, schools, and anganwadis until May 28th.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and urging residents to exercise caution during this period of heavy rainfall.
