Mon May 26 11:44:34 UTC 2025: ## News Article: National Banana Research Center to Participate in Farmer Outreach Program

**TIRUCHI, INDIA – May 26, 2025** – The National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB) in Tiruchi will join the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), a nationwide outreach initiative by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) aimed at connecting agricultural research with local farmers. Scheduled between May 29th and June 12th, the program intends to bridge the gap between advanced agricultural technologies and practical farming.

The VKSA will focus on disseminating the latest farming techniques from research institutions to fields, raising awareness about government initiatives, promoting enhanced farming methods, and fostering sustainable cultivation models.

ICAR-NRCB will specifically promote high-tech banana farming practices like high-density planting and tissue culture propagation. The organization will also highlight natural farming techniques, balanced fertilizer application, and the utilization of soil health cards.

Expert teams from NRCB will travel across Tiruchi, Karur, Ariyalur, and Perambalur districts, providing a forum for farmers to interact directly with scientists. This will offer the opportunity for technical advice and information about schemes such as PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) and PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana).

NRCB will create and distribute informational handouts detailing relevant banana farming technologies and best practices. The campaign will be led by NRCB Director R. Selvarajan and C. Karpagam, the Nodal Officer for VKSA at ICAR-NRCB.
