**Culkin, Fanning Join Cast of ‘Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ Prequel**
**HOLLYWOOD, CA** – Lionsgate has announced key casting additions for the highly anticipated prequel film, *The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping*, set to hit theaters November 20, 2026. Kieran Culkin, fresh off his success in the television industry, will be stepping into the role of Caesar Flickerman, the charismatic and unsettling host of the Hunger Games, originally described by Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-president Erin Westerman as “the sickeningly watchable host of Panem’s darkest spectacle”.
Elle Fanning, known for her work in *Maleficent* and the upcoming *Predator: Badlands*, will portray a younger Effie Trinket, the flamboyant Capitol escort previously played by Elizabeth Banks. The announcement was made on the film’s official social media channels.
The studio also confirmed the addition of Iona Bell as Lou Lou and Molly McCann as Louella McCoy to the cast on May 20th.
*Sunrise on the Reaping*, based on Suzanne Collins’ prequel novel, takes place 24 years before the original *Hunger Games* and explores the brutal 50th Hunger Games. Joseph Zada is set to star as a young Haymitch Abernathy, while the film will also introduce younger versions of other familiar characters like Beetee Latier, Plutarch Heavensbee, and President Coriolanus Snow. Tom Blyth previously portrayed a young Snow in the 2023 prequel *The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes*.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kieran and Elle to the *Hunger Games* family,” said [Insert Fictional Lionsgate Executive]. “Their talent and versatility will undoubtedly bring new depth and excitement to these iconic characters.”
The *Hunger Games* franchise continues to expand, offering fans a deeper look into the dystopian world of Panem and the events leading up to the rebellion. The franchise began with the 2012 film adaptation of the first book, starring Jennifer Lawrence.
