**Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Boycott Madurai Health Official Over Alleged Abuse**
**MADURAI, May 26, 2025** – Doctors belonging to the Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association (TNGDA) in Madurai have announced a boycott of all communication and orders from the Deputy Director (DD) of Health Services, citing alleged ill-treatment and abuse.
The decision was made unanimously during a general body meeting held on Monday. The TNGDA stated that doctors from various Primary Health Centers, Urban Primary Health Centers, and Community Health Centers had previously lodged complaints with the Department of Public Health (DPH) regarding the DD’s conduct, prompting an internal inquiry.
According to TNGDA President, Dr. K. Senthil, the DPH directed Joint Director of Communicable Diseases, Senthil Kumar, to investigate. “He could not sense the seriousness of the issue when it was represented to him earlier by the doctors,” Dr. Senthil added.
Dr. Senthil further explained, “Only when the videos of him spewing bad comments and using unparliamentary words, were published on media and social media platforms, did I understand the grievance of doctors.”
As a result, doctors will cease attending meetings led by the DD, exit official WhatsApp groups, block his contact number, and only adhere to orders received via official circulars from the district administration. Leave requests will now be processed through Block/Zonal Medical Officers (BMOs).
Despite the boycott, the TNGDA has assured the public that healthcare services will not be disrupted. The association emphasized its commitment to ensuring that patients continue to receive the necessary medical attention. The boycott will remain in effect until satisfactory disciplinary action is taken against the DD.
