Sun May 25 06:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Tourist Drugged and Robbed of $123,000 in Bitcoin in London

**London, UK** – An American tourist visiting London was reportedly drugged and robbed of $123,000 in Bitcoin (BTC) after mistaking a private cab for his Uber. Jacob Irwin-Cline, the victim, says he fears he will never recover his life savings.

According to a report by My London, Irwin-Cline, after a night out, inadvertently entered a private cab instead of his scheduled Uber. The driver allegedly offered him a cigarette, which Irwin-Cline believes was laced with scopolamine, a potent sedative. After smoking the cigarette, Irwin-Cline became disoriented and lost consciousness.

Upon briefly regaining consciousness, the driver forced Irwin-Cline out of the vehicle and sped away, striking him with the car in the process. The driver made off with Irwin-Cline’s cellphone, which contained the private keys to his cryptocurrency accounts.

The incident underscores a growing trend of violence targeting individuals involved in the cryptocurrency space. This follows a recent series of kidnappings, extortion attempts, and armed robberies directed at crypto executives, investors, and their families.

Just last month, the father of a crypto exchange owner was rescued in France after being held for ransom, and the family of Paymium CEO Pierre Noizat was targeted in an attempted kidnapping in Paris.

These incidents have prompted increased security measures within the crypto community, including higher demand for bodyguards and private security, highlighting the rising risks associated with digital assets and the need for heightened personal safety awareness.
