**UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2025: Last-Minute Guidelines Released Ahead of Sunday’s Exam**
**New Delhi** – The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) Preliminary exam for 2025 is scheduled for this **Sunday, May 25th.** With the exam just around the corner, crucial guidelines have been released to help candidates navigate the exam process smoothly and maximize their performance.
The Prelims exam consists of two papers: **Paper I will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM (entry closes at 9:00 AM), and Paper II will be held from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM (entry closes at 2:00 PM).**
**Key Guidelines for Exam Day:**
* **Admit Card:** Candidates must carry a printed copy of their UPSC admit card. Thoroughly read and adhere to all instructions provided on the admit card.
* **Exam Centre:** Candidates are strongly advised to verify the location of their exam centre at least one day prior to the exam to familiarize themselves with the route and travel time.
* **Photo Identification:** Bring the original photo identification card mentioned in the admit card for verification purposes.
* **Black Ballpoint Pen:** Only black ballpoint pens are permitted for marking answers on the OMR sheet. Using a pen with a thicker point (e.g., 0.8mm) is recommended.
* **Analog Watch:** Smartwatches and digital watches are strictly prohibited. Candidates may wear a simple analog watch.
* **Dress Code:** Wear comfortable and simple clothing. Avoid electronic devices and jewellery.
* **Reporting Time:** Arrive at the exam centre well in advance. Entry will be closed 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination.
**Preparation Strategy:**
Manjunath Thamminidi, senior faculty, author and founder of PMF IAS, emphasizes the importance of a sound strategy, even within the exam hall. He advises:
* **Positive Mindset:** Maintain a positive attitude and approach the exam with confidence.
* **Prioritize Questions:** Attempt questions you are most confident in first. Time management is crucial.
* **Negative Marking:** Exercise caution and only answer questions you are sure of, as there is negative marking.
* **OMR Sheet Accuracy:** Double-check the question numbers and options marked on the OMR sheet. Review the answer sheet in the last 10 minutes to ensure all questions are correctly marked.
**The Night Before:**
* **Diet:** Eat a balanced and light meal prepared at home to avoid any health issues on exam day.
* **Rest:** Ensure a good night’s sleep to keep your mind calm and focused.
* **Relaxation:** Avoid stress by engaging in relaxing activities like yoga, meditation, or a light walk.
* **Avoid New Material:** Do not attempt to learn new concepts or read new notes. Stick to revising your short notes, mind maps, and familiar resources.
