**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – May 25, 2025** – India has officially surpassed Japan to become the world’s fourth-largest economy, boasting a GDP of $4.2 trillion, according to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The announcement, made via a post on X, credits Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “bold and visionary leadership” for the significant milestone.
Naidu emphasized the need for all states to collaborate in achieving “Viksit Bharat-2047,” India’s ambitious goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. He projected Andhra Pradesh will play a crucial role in this endeavor, aiming for “Swarna Andhra @ 2047,” a golden era for the state.
Echoing Naidu’s sentiment, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, citing NITI Aayog data placing India’s GDP at $4.18 trillion, attributed the economic success to the NDA government’s progressive governance since 2014. He highlighted innovation, infrastructure development, inclusion, and digital transformation as key drivers of India’s growth story over the past decade.
“This achievement is more than just economic, it reflects new India’s growing global prominence,” Kalyan stated in his own X post. He further asserted that this is a crucial step toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy and realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047.
According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India is projected to overtake Germany by 2028, securing the third-largest economy position globally. The news signals a significant shift in the global economic landscape, with India rapidly ascending the ranks.
