Sun May 25 04:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Angels Call Up Top Prospect Dana to Bolster Bullpen, DFA Anderson

**ANAHEIM, CA -** The Los Angeles Angels are looking to shore up their bullpen depth, recalling right-handed pitching prospect Caden Dana from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. To make room for the 21-year-old, veteran right-hander Shaun Anderson was designated for assignment.

The move comes as the Angels grapple with injuries to key bullpen arms. Hard-throwing Ben Joyce is sidelined for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery, while Robert Stephenson continues his rehabilitation assignment.

Anderson, 30, posted a 6.30 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 10 innings this season, despite a solid outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers last Sunday, where he earned a win after pitching 2 2/3 innings and allowing just one earned run.

Dana, ranked as the Angels’ No. 2 prospect by MLB Pipeline, made a brief MLB appearance earlier this season, pitching three innings and allowing two runs. The young pitcher boasts a strong track record, including a 2.52 ERA in 135 2/3 innings at Double-A Rocket City last season. This season at Salt Lake, he is 3-4 with a 5.21 ERA in eight starts.

Angels manager Ron Washington emphasized Dana’s role in providing length to the bullpen. “He’ll be our long guy out of the bullpen if we need him in that situation,” Washington told reporters. “We needed length, so that’s what he’s here to do. If something happens in the second inning, he could take the game all the way to the end, and that’s what we needed.”

Despite the bullpen challenges, the Angels are riding high on an eight-game winning streak as they prepared to face the Miami Marlins on Saturday night. The addition of Dana offers a potential boost as they look to maintain their momentum.
