Sat May 24 00:00:00 UTC 2025: **Pacers Stun Knicks in Game 1 Overtime Thriller, Echoes of Reggie Miller Resurface**
**NEW YORK** – In a stunning display of resilience, the Indiana Pacers overcame a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the New York Knicks 138-135 in overtime in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday night. The victory at Madison Square Garden marked the Knicks’ first conference finals game in 25 years.
Aaron Nesmith erupted for six 3-pointers in a pivotal five-minute stretch, and Tyrese Haliburton hit a clutch, improbable shot at the end of regulation to force overtime. Haliburton finished the night with 31 points and 11 assists. Andrew Nembhard also contributed with seven of his 15 points coming in overtime.
The comeback sparked memories of Reggie Miller, who tormented the Knicks in the 1990s. Nesmith’s barrage of 3-pointers was reminiscent of Miller’s historic performances.
Despite Jalen Brunson’s impressive 43-point performance, the Knicks couldn’t hold off the Pacers’ late surge. Karl-Anthony Towns added 35 points for the Knicks.
The Pacers now lead the series 1-0. Game 2 is set for Friday in New York.
