**Tata Altroz Facelift to Get CNG AMT Option Soon**
**Mumbai, May 23, 2025** – Following the recent launch of the Tata Altroz facelift with a new petrol AMT option, Tata Motors is reportedly planning to introduce an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) variant for its CNG-powered Altroz. Sources confirm that this update is expected to roll out in the coming months.
While Tata Motors has not yet officially commented on the matter, the company already offers AMT gearboxes with its Tiago and Tigor CNG models, making the technology readily available for application in the premium Altroz hatchback.
Sailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, stated at the Altroz launch that the introduction of the AMT option is a strategic move to attract first-time car buyers, who constitute a significant portion of Altroz purchasers. Around 25 percent of Altroz buyers opt for automatic variants.
The Altroz CNG AMT is likely to feature the same 1.2-litre engine found in the Tiago and Tigor CNG, producing 73hp and 95Nm of torque. It will also likely retain the dual CNG cylinder setup.
The introduction of an AMT option is part of Tata Motors’ broader strategy to regain lost market share in the hatchback segment.
