The IMD’s Friday night forecast update indicates that Kannur and Kasaragod districts are under a red alert for Saturday, anticipating rainfall exceeding 20 cm within 24 hours.

Nine other districts – Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta – are under an orange alert for isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on Saturday. Alappuzha, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram face a yellow alert for isolated heavy rainfall.

The situation is expected to worsen, with Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod already under red alert for Sunday, according to the 9 PM update. On Monday, these districts, along with Idukki and Pathanamthitta, are also expected to be under red alert.
