Thu May 22 19:50:00 UTC 2025: **Pop Star Drama: Justin Baldoni Drops Subpoena Against Taylor Swift in Blake Lively Lawsuit**
**LOS ANGELES, CA -** Justin Baldoni has withdrawn a document subpoena issued to Taylor Swift in his ongoing legal battle with actress Blake Lively. A spokesperson for Lively confirmed the news on Thursday, May 22, stating that they are “pleased Baldoni’s legal team has withdrawn their harassing subpoenas to Taylor Swift and her law firm.”
Lively’s representative accused Baldoni and his team of attempting to exploit Swift’s celebrity to draw attention to the case, claiming it was part of a pre-existing strategy outlined in a planning document. “Faced with having to justify themselves in federal court, they folded,” the spokesperson stated, adding, “At some point they will run out of distractions from the actual claims of sexual harassment and retaliation they are facing.”
The initial subpoena, issued earlier in May, prompted Swift’s team to release a statement emphasizing her limited involvement with the film adaptation of “It Ends With Us,” in which Lively starred and Baldoni directed. Swift’s involvement was limited to licensing the song “My Tears Ricochet” for the film, a contribution shared by 19 other artists. Her spokesperson labeled the subpoena as a “tabloid clickbait” tactic.
The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni began in December when Lively sued Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment, disturbing and unprofessional behavior on the set of “It Ends With Us,” and a retaliatory smear campaign. Baldoni subsequently filed a countersuit in January, accusing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicity team of defamation and extortion. Baldoni’s countersuit alleged that Swift and Reynolds pressured him into accepting Lively’s rewrite of the script, and that Lively compared herself to Khaleesi with Reynolds and Swift as her dragons.
Earlier in May, Baldoni’s lawyers made an accusation that Lively threatened to release private text messages between herself and Swift if the singer did not publicly support her. The accusation was retracted from the record.
The trial for *Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al.*, encompassing both lawsuits, is scheduled for March 2026.
