Fri May 23 16:05:08 UTC 2025: ## Illegal Train Ticket Racket Busted in Coimbatore, One Arrest Made
**COIMBATORE, May 23, 2025** – The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has apprehended a man from West Bengal for allegedly running an illegal train ticket sale operation at Podanur railway station in Coimbatore.
The accused, identified as 37-year-old Imran Hossain Sekh, was arrested following a routine check conducted by RPF sub-inspector P. Manikandan and his team near the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) centre on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the RPF, Sekh was found in possession of three live PRS counter tickets worth ₹26,230 and five unfilled reservation forms. Further investigation of his mobile phone revealed images of numerous expired PRS tickets, including ten recently booked and sold tickets with a total value of ₹85,065.
Sekh confessed to booking railway tickets at PRS centres in Podanur, Coimbatore, Coimbatore North, Peelamedu, Mettupalayam, and Ottapalam and selling them to passengers at a markup of ₹300 per ticket.
He has been charged under Section 143(1)(b) of the Railways Act, 1989, which pertains to the illegal purchase and sale of train tickets for commercial purposes.
Sekh was presented before the First Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday and has been remanded in judicial custody until June 5th.
