**Chandigarh, India** – Bollywood actress and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has initiated legal action against fellow directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia, challenging the validity of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on April 21.
Zinta, a co-director of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the company that owns the IPL team Punjab Kings, alleges the meeting violated procedures outlined in the Companies Act, 2013, and secretarial rules. According to court documents, Zinta objected to the meeting via email on April 10, but her concerns were reportedly disregarded. She claims Burman proceeded with the meeting with Wadia’s backing.
The lawsuit, filed in a Chandigarh court, seeks to invalidate the EGM and prevent Muneesh Khanna, who was appointed as a director during the meeting, from holding that position. Zinta and another director, Karan Paul, both opposed Khanna’s appointment.
Zinta is also requesting the court to prevent Punjab Kings from conducting any further board or general meetings without the presence of herself and Paul, and without Khanna’s involvement, pending the resolution of the case.
Despite the legal dispute, Zinta has been actively supporting Punjab Kings from the stands during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The team, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, has enjoyed a successful season, qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
Punjab Kings, currently in third place with 17 points from 12 matches, are aiming for a top-two finish. They will face Delhi Capitals in Jaipur on Saturday and Mumbai Indians on Monday to conclude their league engagements.
