**TMC Delegation Alleges Pakistan Conducted Precision Strikes on Indian Civilians in J&K**
**New Delhi – May 23, 2025** – A five-member delegation from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has concluded a two-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), claiming that Pakistan has been deliberately targeting Indian civilians in border districts with precision strikes. The delegation, comprised of TMC leaders Derek O’Brien, Sagarika Ghose, Nadimul Haque, Mamata Thakur, and West Bengal Waterways Minister Manas Bhunia, visited Poonch and Rajouri, areas heavily impacted by recent cross-border shelling following India’s Operation Sindoor against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
In Poonch, the delegation witnessed the aftermath of an attack that killed 15 civilians. In Rajouri, they visited the shell-damaged residence of senior J&K official Rajkumar Thapa, who was among three civilians killed in the shelling. According to Mr. O’Brien, the focused nature of the shelling suggested deliberate targeting. “Even to a lay person it looked like Pakistan was conducting precision strikes, picking very specific targets,” O’Brien stated, emphasizing the lack of randomness in the attacks.
Sagarika Ghose expressed the delegation’s solidarity with the affected families, stating, “We have witnessed the pain, suffering, and loss endured by the families… We are here to tell each and every family that they are not alone. We stand with them.”
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Poonch on Saturday to meet with the families affected by the shelling. J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has welcomed both Mr. Gandhi’s upcoming visit and the TMC delegation’s efforts.
The situation in the region remains tense, with schools in Poonch reporting low attendance rates. The TMC’s findings add weight to concerns about the escalating conflict and the impact on civilian populations.
