**Karnataka Bio-Energy Policy Action Plan Underway, Aims for State-Wide Implementation**

**Bengaluru, May 23, 2025** – The Karnataka Bio-Energy Development Board is actively formulating an action plan for its proposed New Bio-Energy Policy, aiming to prioritize environmentally friendly energy sources across the state. Board Chairman S.E. Sudheendra announced the initiative on Friday during the 42nd Executive Committee Meeting.

The policy, set to be implemented shortly, focuses on increasing the adoption of bio-energy to create a sustainable ecosystem. The annual report for 2024-25 was presented at the meeting.

Executive Committee member Krishnan highlighted the global potential of bio-energies, citing bio-briquettes, bio-pellets, compressed biogas, and biomass-based green hydrogen as key to meeting the electricity needs of local authorities and the transportation sector.

Chairman Sudheendra also directed the establishment of a subcommittee to manage the collection of vital oilseeds, including Honge, Neem, and Hippe Seemarooba, crucial for biodiesel production within the state.
