Fri May 23 10:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Delhi-NCR Braces for More Rain, Thunderstorms Offer Continued Heat Relief

**New Delhi, May 24th, 2024** – Delhi-NCR residents can expect continued relief from the scorching heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light rainfall and thunderstorms for the national capital today. This comes after a week of intermittent rain and a significant thunderstorm earlier this week, which brought down temperatures considerably.

According to the IMD, Delhi will experience a partly cloudy sky with a high probability of thunder and lightning throughout the day. The maximum temperature is expected to remain stable between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius, a significant drop from earlier this month.

The weather agency has issued a yellow alert, warning of potentially stormy conditions with winds expected to blow at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour, occasionally gusting up to 50 kilometres per hour during thunderstorms. These strong winds may also stir up dust during the evening and night.

The pleasant weather is expected to continue through the weekend, with the forecast indicating thunderstorms and occasional rain persisting until Sunday, May 25th. This extended period of mild, rainy weather has effectively eliminated the threat of a heatwave in Delhi and the surrounding regions for the foreseeable future.

In other weather news, the IMD reported that conditions are becoming favorable for the further progression of the southwest monsoon.
