**Thiruvananthapuram, May 23, 2025** – Kerala is bracing for a heavy monsoon season as heavy rains continue to batter the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Thiruvananthapuram district this evening, warning of extremely heavy rainfall and surface winds reaching 50 kmph.

The IMD also issued orange alerts for several other districts, including Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. Red alerts have been extended for Kannur and Kasaragod from May 24-26, and for Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad on May 25-26. Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts will also be under red alert on May 26.
