Fri May 23 05:30:00 UTC 2025: **”Euphoria” Season 3: Filming Begins Amidst Delays, Cast Changes, and a Time Jump**
**Los Angeles, CA** – After a prolonged hiatus stretching back to February 2022, filming for the highly anticipated third season of HBO’s “Euphoria” has officially commenced in February 2025. HBO confirmed the start of production with a first-look image of Zendaya back in character as Rue. The announcement comes after a series of delays attributed to the 2023 writers’ strike and the increasingly packed schedules of the show’s ensemble cast, which includes Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Colman Domingo, and Sydney Sweeney.
However, behind-the-scenes reports suggest more complex issues at play. A Hollywood Reporter feature in 2024 alluded to tensions between Zendaya and series creator Sam Levinson, allegedly stemming from the production of Levinson’s controversial 2023 series, “The Idol,” while “Euphoria” scripts remained unfinished.
Despite the speculation, key cast members are returning, including Zendaya, Eric Dane, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Hunter Schafer, Dominic Fike, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Colman Domingo, Martha Kelly, and Chloe Cherry.
Tragically, the new season will be without Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away in 2023, and Barbie Ferreira, who has confirmed her departure from the show. Storm Reid, who plays Rue’s younger sister Gia Bennett, will also be missing from the new season.
Adding fresh faces to the mix are Rosalía, former NFL player Marshawn Lynch, and Sharon Stone, whose roles are yet to be revealed.
The most significant change for Season 3 will be a time jump, shifting the narrative beyond the confines of high school. Zendaya explained that the time jump would explore how the characters’ formative experiences impact their adulthood.
“It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the kind of adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world.”
While concrete details about the plot remain scarce, HBO has tentatively slated the premiere of “Euphoria” Season 3 for early 2026. HBO’s Francesca Orsi told Deadline in February that it has been discussed that this is the end. Fans can expect a trailer and further updates in the coming months as production progresses.
