**ALBANY, NY** – Communities across the Capital Region are preparing to commemorate Memorial Day with a series of parades and ceremonies honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Despite a forecast forcing the cancellation of Rotterdam’s parade, a service is still planned for May 26th at 2:30 p.m. at Rotterdam Town Hall.
Here’s a rundown of scheduled events:
* **Albany:** Parade begins at 9 a.m. at Central and Lexington avenues, ending at Lafayette Park.
* **Ballston Spa:** Parade steps off at 9 a.m. on Route 50, followed by a ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Low Street.
* **Catskill:** Parade begins at 2 p.m. on Water Street and ends at Dutchman’s Landing.
* **Cohoes:** Parade starts at 6 p.m. from Veteran’s Memorial Park on Columbia Street, with Cohoes native William “Bill” Ciejka as Grand Marshal.
* **East Greenbush:** Parade commences at 10 a.m. at the East Greenbush Bowling Center, ending with a ceremony at Melvin Roads American Legion.
* **Gloversville:** Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. from Kingsboro Avenue to Prospect Hill Cemetery.
* **Greenville:** Service on May 26th at noon, starting at American Legion Post #94.
* **North Greenbush:** Parade begins at town hall at 1 p.m.
* **Rensselaer:** Opening ceremonies at 1 p.m. in front of Beverwyck Cemetery, with the parade beginning at 2 p.m.
* **Rotterdam:** Memorial Day service is still on for May 26 at 2:30 p.m., 1100 Sunrise Blvd., Town Hall.
* **Sand Lake:** Parade begins around 10 a.m. from Averill Avenue to Sand Lake Veteran’s Memorial Park, followed by a ceremony around 10:30 a.m.
* **Saratoga National Cemetery (Schuylerville):** Annual Memorial Day ceremony on Saturday, May 24, featuring Brigadier General Gary Charlton II as keynote speaker. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
* **Schoharie:** Parade starts at 6 p.m. from the County Office Building on Main Street to the firehouse.
* **South Glens Falls:** Parade from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. starting on Main Street, followed by a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park. The Moreau Community Center will provide a cookout from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
* **Stillwater:** Parade at 6 p.m. at Hudson Avenue.
* **Troy:** Parade starts at 1 p.m. at Lansingburgh High School, ending at Powers Park, followed by a ceremony and community celebration.
* **Voorheesville:** Parade at 10 a.m. at the corner of Route 85A and Circle Drive.
* **Watervliet:** Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Watervliet High School, with Walter Ellis as Grand Marshal.
