**Michael Douglas Hints at MCU Exit: “I Don’t Think So”**
**Hollywood, CA –** Veteran actor Michael Douglas, known for his role as Dr. Hank Pym in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has indicated he likely won’t be returning to the superhero franchise. The announcement casts doubt on the future of the original Ant-Man character within the ever-expanding Marvel universe.
Douglas debuted as the brilliant scientist and mentor in 2015’s “Ant-Man,” reprising the role in “Ant-Man and the Wasp” (2018), “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), and most recently, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” (2023).
In a recent interview with Deadline, Douglas addressed the possibility of a future MCU appearance. “I don’t think so,” he stated. “I had the experience, and I was excited to do it. I’d never done a green screen picture before.”
Douglas, who also cited the demanding nature of running a production company alongside acting as a contributing factor, revealed he’s enjoying a hiatus. “I did the ‘The Kominsky Method’ because I wanted to work with Chuck Lorre and try some comedy. But I’m enjoying my hiatus and enjoying my life. It was overwhelming running the production company and acting at the same time.”
This statement suggests that Douglas won’t be involved in the highly anticipated “Avengers: Doomsday,” slated for a 2026 release. While Hank Pym’s absence may disappoint some fans, Paul Rudd is confirmed to return as Scott Lang/Ant-Man. Rudd’s future in the MCU beyond “Avengers: Doomsday” remains uncertain, with speculation swirling about his potential involvement in the 2027 sequel, “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
Beyond the MCU, Douglas has remained active, starring in the Apple TV+ miniseries “Franklin,” which premiered in April 2024. He also recently completed filming “Blood Knot,” a drama co-starring his son, Cameron Douglas, directed by Roberto Sneider. The film is currently seeking distribution.
Fans looking to revisit Douglas’s portrayal of Hank Pym can stream all three “Ant-Man” movies on Disney+.
