**LOS ANGELES** – Max Muncy’s sacrifice fly in the 10th inning propelled the Los Angeles Dodgers to a thrilling 4-3 victory over division rivals, the Arizona Diamondbacks, Tuesday night, snapping a four-game losing streak at home. The win, the Dodgers’ fourth walk-off of the season, came after a roller-coaster game that saw the Diamondbacks tie the score late and take a two-run lead in extra innings.
“It was kind of a big game for us,” said Muncy, acknowledging the pressure after the Dodgers’ recent struggles.
The victory was fueled by a masterful performance from starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who delivered seven shutout innings. Yamamoto, pitching after a couple of rough outings, showcased his dominance by carrying a no-hitter into the sixth and striking out eight Diamondbacks hitters.
“I’m glad because I was able to contribute to today’s win,” Yamamoto said.
Despite Yamamoto’s stellar performance, the Dodgers found themselves trailing after Diamondbacks’ catcher Gabriel Moreno hit a game-tying home run in the ninth and Corbin Carroll blasted a two-run homer in the top of the 10th off Dodgers reliever Tanner Scott.
However, the Dodgers’ resilient offense rallied in the bottom of the 10th. Tommy Edman led off with a double, followed by intentional walks to Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman to load the bases. Will Smith was then hit by a pitch, scoring a run and setting the stage for Muncy’s game-winning sacrifice fly.
“We needed a win bad,” said Scott. “Luckily we have a pretty good lineup, so it saved us.”
Manager Dave Roberts praised his team’s ability to string together quality at-bats, highlighting the much-needed victory after a tough stretch. The win marks the third time this season the Dodgers have won a game after trailing by two or more runs in the ninth inning or later, tying them for the major league lead in that category.
The Dodgers will look to build on this momentum as they continue their series against the Diamondbacks.
