**Four Women Arrested in Virudhunagar for Supermarket Theft**
**Virudhunagar, May 22, 2025:** Four women from Vadipatti, Madurai district, have been arrested for stealing ghee and shampoo from a supermarket in Virudhunagar. The women, identified as P. Rakkammal (60), J. Jaya (56), J. Muthupandiammal (55), and R. Vannamathi (55), were apprehended by supermarket staff after returning to the store on Thursday, May 22nd.
According to police reports, employees discovered a shortage of 12 ghee bottles and 11 shampoo bottles on May 16th. Reviewing CCTV footage revealed the women concealing the items inside their clothing. When the same group returned this week, staff recognized them and confronted them with the video evidence.
After allegedly confessing to the theft, the women were handed over to Virudhunagar Bazaar police. They have been charged with stealing goods worth ₹14,500. The investigation is ongoing.
