Thu May 22 16:56:19 UTC 2025: ## India Urges Turkey, China to Respect “Mutual Sensitivities” Amid Pakistan Tensions
**New Delhi – May 22, 2025** – India today issued strong reminders to both Turkey and China, emphasizing the importance of “mutual sensitivities” in building strong bilateral relationships. The statement comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, coupled with concerns over Turkey’s military support for Pakistan and China’s continued engagement with Pakistani leadership.
Speaking at a weekly media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal urged Turkey to actively address Pakistan’s role in fostering cross-border terrorism. “We expect Turkey to strongly urge Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism and take credible and verifiable actions against the terror ecosystem it has harbored for decades,” Jaiswal stated. “Relations are built on the basis of sensitivities to each other’s concerns.” This statement follows reports of Turkey delivering weapons to Pakistan, even as recent hostilities flared up between India and Pakistan earlier this month.
Addressing China, Jaiswal reiterated the need for mutual respect, particularly after China hosted Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar following calls for a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He referenced a recent conversation between India’s National Security Advisor and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on May 10, 2025, where India’s stance against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism was clearly conveyed. “The Chinese side is aware that mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity remain the basis of India-China relations,” Jaiswal emphasized.
The remarks highlight India’s growing concerns over external support for Pakistan, particularly in light of ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region. India remains firm on its stance against cross-border terrorism and continues to advocate for peaceful and stable relations with its neighbors, built on a foundation of mutual respect and understanding.
